The Monroe Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic History
Pet over-population and the alarming number of companion animals being unnecessarily euthanized every day were the main driving forces behind the Humane Society of Union County’s desire to start a low cost spay/neuter clinic. It took several years of planning and preparation before we could open the Monroe Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic. The Clinic’s doors were officially opened on August 15, 2011.
As of today over 17,000 dogs and cats have been spayed or neutered at the clinic. In 2015, Wellness Wednesdays were added to our services. Clients may schedule appointments for low cost vaccines, testing and preventatives on Wednesdays. The community has shown an overwhelming positive response to our newest program. To date, our clinic has vaccinated over 3,000 cats and dogs during our Wellness Wednesday hours.
The demand for the services the Monroe Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic provides is out growing our space. Humane Society of Union County is now in the process of raising funds to build a larger clinic and turn the old house into our Humane Society of Union County Adoption Center.
